Value of “Playfulness“

These summer days have given me the opportunity to pause my old routines and look back at what I was doing and what I really want to focus on more. This “pause“is needed every now and then for anyone. Pause to everyday nonstop work. Pause to negative thoughts and judgements and probably change them into more constructive ideas. Pause and do nothing. Pause and be mindful of yourself. Pause and be present and mindful of small happy moments by being more in nature, doing more of what you really enjoy like reading your favorite books, listening to your favorite musics, podcasts, watching your favorite movies, painting, …..

I want to pick 2 phrases from above and focus on them this week for my own practice: Pause your Negative thoughts/Judgements and doing what you enjoy.

I started my week by thinking more about what I really enjoy doing these days.In my art making process, this “Pause“ phase gives me more freedom to explore and play and enjoy the process of art making and more importantly not being worried about my final product/my painting. Then I recall, that’s how kids interact with each other. That’s how they do in my art classes specially when they are younger(Kindergarten and 1st grade). They are just fearless, bold, playful and not worried about anyone else’s judgements. I love their approach, I enjoy observing their process. Back when we were at school, I remember finding myself at the end of the school day, sitting on a stool for so long ,staring at finished artworks of my Kindergarten students (which I collected from the drying rack and spread on the floor or on my big demo table) and being fascinated by freedom in their works. I am trying to apply this bold and brave mindset in my playful painting process by trying different tools and techniques and by not being judgmental in a negative way. Watch this video to have a better vision.

This approach is shaping my plans and giving me ideas for our next art course.

Try this “Pause“ and share your story with me.

Always Create! ❤️
